Arduino
Arduino is an open-source electronics prototyping platform based on flexible, easy-to-use hardware and software. It's intended for artists, designers, hobbyists, and anyone interested in creating interactive objects or environments.
Arduino projects can be stand-alone or they can communicate with software on running on a computer (e.g. Flash, Processing, MaxMSP).
More info and the software can be downloaded from arduino.cc

Arduino Ethernet Shield
Introduction at Arduino site: http://arduino.cc/en/Main/ArduinoEthernetShield
The NEW Arduino Ethernet Shield allows an Arduino board to connect to the internet. It is based on the Wiznet W5100 ethernet chip. The Wiznet W5100 provides a network (IP) stack capable of both TCP and UDP. It supports up to four simultaneous socket connections. Use the Ethernet library to write sketches which connect to the internet using the shield.
New available features:
Micro SD card connector
On board reset controller
NOW Compatible with the Arduino MEGA board
